Riley’s Miniature Railway running day

Date: Sunday, September 29, 2019, 11.00 am - 4.00 pm

The next running day for Riley’s Miniature Railway at The Lavender Line heritage railway, Isfield, is Sunday, September 29.

It will also be open during a gala weekend at The Lavender Line on Saturday, and Sunday, October 5 and 6.

Riley’s Miniature Railway is a not for profit railway with 100% of fares and donations being sent to the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London.

50p rides

Charging a very reasonable 50p per person per ride, we give rides to both children and adults alike.

We are one of the few, ground level, 5 inch gauge railway’s open to the public in the UK and as such, this is considered to be the smallest practical ride on track gauge.

You will find the track at the back of platform two with its station located just to the north of the gift shop where it has been growing ever since opening in 2011.

There’s a signal box, tunnel, and girder bridge, various advertising signs from days gone by and miniature vehicles and figurines at the line side.

Riley’s Miniature Railway is run entirely by volunteers who give up their spare time to give pleasure to families and to raise funds for the Evelina Children’s Hospital, in London.

Read about a crowdfunding appeal currently underway to secure the future of the railway in an Uckfield News story here: Fund-raising miniature railway needs help to secure future.

If you are in a position to help with funding and you wish to do so please have a look here. We thank you in advance for your financial contribution and support in helping to keep this miniature railway going, which in turn helps a very worthwhile charity.

All updates, including our next running days, are posted on our Facebook page.

Our next running day is Sunday, September 29, and we’re very much looking forward to the Lavender Line’s October Gala on Saturday, and Sunday, October 5 and 6 where we will be running on both days with various miniature locomotives in use and on display, and all being well, at least two of them being steam engines.
