‘More than just a Funeral’ exhibition
Location: Uckfield Civic Centre, Bell Farm Lane, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 1AE
Date: Thursday, September 13, 2018, 10.30 am - 4.00 pm
Cooper & Son, part of family-run funeral directors CPJ Field, is hosting an exhibition aimed at helping to break down barriers when it comes to discussing end of life plans.
The ‘More than just a Funeral’ exhibition will encourage people to think, and talk, about their funeral wishes and share them with their loved ones.
The event is open to everyone and will cover all aspects of end of life planning, from expert legal advice to funeral personalisation. For example attendees will have the opportunity to discuss bereavement counselling and hospice care with local representatives and ask questions about wills and probates of lawyers at Rix & Kay Solicitors.
As well as picking up practical information such as how to register a death, people will also be able to explore some less familiar end of life options, including turning ashes into glass, jewellery, or even fireworks.
Paula O’Neill, pictured above, who is Community Champion at Cooper & Son, and organising the event said: “In today’s society we often shy away from talking or even thinking about our end of life wishes.
“For many people there isn’t much more daunting than going into a funeral home to ask a question or to discuss even the most practical aspects of planning a funeral.
“Because of this, many people are unaware of the ways in which funerals can be personalised to reflect the life of the individual who has died. The exhibition will be a great place to discover the variety of options on offer and get advice in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
“We also hope that the exhibition will open up the conversation and encourage people of all ages to share their end of life wishes. Of course these can be difficult conversations to have with the people we love the most, but it is important that we have them before it’s too late.”
