Date: Thursday, February 28, 2019, 6.15 pm - 9.00 pm

An Uckfield charity working to rebuild a World War 2 Hawker Typhoon aircraft is hosting a talk by award-winning biographer Clare Mulley.
It will be held on Thursday, February 28, from 6.15pm to 9pm at The Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group’s base, Unit 10, Ridgewood Industrial Estate.
Clare writes about remarkable and original women whose achievements have not been widely known.
Women pilots
Her most recent book is The Women Who Flew for Hitler, a dual biography of two extraordinary women, Hanna Reitsch and Melitta Schiller, who were Nazi Germany’s most highly decorated women pilots.
The others have been The Woman Who Saved the Children,  about Eglantyne Jebb, founder of Save the Children, and The Spy Who Loved about the Polish-born British spy Christine Granville.
Clare is a regular contributor to TV and radio and recently gave a TED talk at Stormont.
She wrote last year’s BBC Reith Lecture quiz, and lectures in London and Paris on wartime female special agents.
She also reviews non-fiction for the Telegraph, Spectator and History Today.
Clare was chair of the judges for the Historical Writers Association 2017 Non-Fiction Prize, and has recently become an honorary patron of the Wimpole History Festival.
Her book The Woman Who Saved the Children won the Daily Mail Biographers’ Club Prize, and The Spy Who Loved, which has been optioned by Universal Studios, led to Clare being decorated with Poland’s national honour of the Bene Merito.
